curran's trying on a hat i made for his little buddy indalee. it's been pretty icky here the last few days, cold and raining/snowing/hailing, the creek has a lot of water flowing in it!
have you seen this? what the world eats - i thought it was pretty cool to see. another one of our resolutions for the new year is to eat healthier as a family. i think we actually eat pretty healthy compared to the average american family but there's always room for improvement, right? we're going to try to avoid processed foods as much as possible, which can be challenging with 3 little boys, processed foods are just plain easy! i read something recently that suggested avoiding food ingredients that are 1. unfamiliar (do you have disodium guanylate in your pantry?), 2. unpronounceable (ex. thiamin mononitrate), 3. more than 5 in number (the package i'm looking at has 28!), and 4. artificial sweeteners, particularly high fructose corn syrup. want to know what processed food i'm looking at? it's pasta roni, shells and white chedder. the boys love it but it has a lot of stuff in it that their little bodies don't need. so last night i made the same thing using ingredients we already had in the pantry - flour, butter, and milk for the white sauce, whole wheat shells, and sprinkled parmesan cheese on top - just as good and a lot healthier for them! and just as easy to make too. :)

Love the hat! Love that yarn...so soft and squishy! I made B some pants and little hat out of it...yummo!
It's hard not relying on those easy peasy boxes for quick meals, huh? We rely on those quite a bit for side dishes...rice, pasta, etc. It seems like it just takes alot more planning/time/thought to have all the ingredients on hand and make it from scratch. WTG making your own!
Thanks so much for the hat and diaper cover/pants, Kelly!! Indalee wears them almost every day! You amaze me how you find time to do all this stuff. You go girl! I'll have to take a picture of Indalee in the hat and pants for ya...
