little curry baby is 6 months old already!! time seems to go faster and faster with each kid, it's crazy. he is such a cool little guy. it's so cute how he watches estin and dade and gets upset if they take off to play somewhere else. if you're wondering what the heck he's chewing on, it's another "must-have" baby item of mine - i think they're called fresh food feeders or something like that, you can get them at target. we don't do jarred baby food at all, instead we just put a piece of something in this thing and he chews on it - so far he's had banana, apple, pear, and chicken! going to try avocado soon too. it's pretty cool!

estin was really cute when we were talking about curran's half birthday, he said "so curran will have his birthday in the night?" he remembered that curran was born in the middle of the night!

01.10.08

i have a hard time capturing their beautiful dark brown eyes (exactly like brian's!) but today i think i got a couple good ones when the sun was shining in the playroom.

and a few minutes later i got this cute set...
ok, i'll admit it, i already broke a resolution. i went to kohl's to get snowboots for brian and estin and walked out of there with boots and mittens that were made in china. brian said the resolution doesn't apply to items for him, haha, and i probably could have found boots on the internet made elsewhere for estin but i kinda needed them before the snow melted! i will continue to work on this resolution, however, and i'm thinking it will save us some money because it seems like everything is made in china!

mmmm, toes! estin and dade never did this, i think it's so cute!

and just a little bit of proud-mama-bragging today, estin knows all of the letters in the alphabet! well, he says -u-, -v-, and -y- are "tricky sometimes" but for the most part, he's got them. i got this link to starfall on a message board i go to, taught him how to use the mouse and he just took off learning.

curran's trying on a hat i made for his little buddy indalee. it's been pretty icky here the last few days, cold and raining/snowing/hailing, the creek has a lot of water flowing in it!

have you seen this? what the world eats - i thought it was pretty cool to see. another one of our resolutions for the new year is to eat healthier as a family. i think we actually eat pretty healthy compared to the average american family but there's always room for improvement, right? we're going to try to avoid processed foods as much as possible, which can be challenging with 3 little boys, processed foods are just plain easy! i read something recently that suggested avoiding food ingredients that are 1. unfamiliar (do you have disodium guanylate in your pantry?), 2. unpronounceable (ex. thiamin mononitrate), 3. more than 5 in number (the package i'm looking at has 28!), and 4. artificial sweeteners, particularly high fructose corn syrup. want to know what processed food i'm looking at? it's pasta roni, shells and white chedder. the boys love it but it has a lot of stuff in it that their little bodies don't need. so last night i made the same thing using ingredients we already had in the pantry - flour, butter, and milk for the white sauce, whole wheat shells, and sprinkled parmesan cheese on top - just as good and a lot healthier for them! and just as easy to make too. :)

i forgot to post a cute estin tidbit - we were writing out a card to christina, his playgroup teacher, and when we finished he put the card in the envelope and starting licking the envelope to seal it - only problem was he was licking the outside flap! i love it when kids imitate things we do without really knowing why. it totally makes me appreciate the simple little things in life. so i showed him where the glue was and why we lick the envelope to glue it shut. :)

and speaking of handmade goodies - aren't these sweaters incredible?! i wish i could say i made them, but i'm not that good! one of grandma barb's bridge friends made these beautiful sweaters for the boys and they fit perfectly! and now that i've painstakingly completed sweaters for all 3 boys (i made the sweaters they are wearing in the holiday card i sent out) i know just how much time and love goes into them. :)

(and i realize this is not one of dade's best pictures, haha, his lips have been all chapped lately so he's always making funny faces!)

he's feeling better, yay! but no teeth yet...
curran's sitting in one of my "must-have" baby items, a chicco hippo seat. we got this for dade when we moved here and didn't have a lot of space in the rental house so there wasn't much room for a big highchair. baby totally loves it because he gets to sit at the table with everyone else. we just put curran in for the first time and he's so happy! i love it too because i get to use both hands to eat again! ;)
